Ways to Give

Dear Prior Donor

Time, indeed, does fly. Here we are nearing the end of 2016 and summer seemed like just a blur. It is this time of year that we tend to recount our blessings and reflect on our accomplishments—the most important of which is helping students achieve lifelong dreams of postsecondary education and occupational/technical training at Paul D. Camp Community College.

We have had an exciting year. As the new president, I have discovered that faculty, staff, students and community possess a great love for the college. This passion results in dedication to our students and a true belief in our mission.

You are an important part of the team. Your gift this past year to the PDCCC Foundation Annual Fund has demonstrated the value you place on the college and the work of the foundation. It has helped to support several scholarships for students and professional development for our faculty and staff so that they may be at their best to serve students and the general community. Because of you, students have had the opportunity to experience a new vision and direction at PDCCC.

Over the past year at PDCCC, we hosted the first gala in the statewide community college system in support of the Rural Virginia Horseshoe Initiative (RVHI). The event drew 220 participants and netted more than $35,000 to provide more incentives for GED recipients and helped fund salaries for our high school career coaches within our seven local high schools.

Those RVHI gifts have supported students like Angela McQuillia, who was the first recipient of the GED and Adult Education Scholarship. Without this award, she would not have had the resources to overcome her challenges and complete an associate’s degree as she did in May. As a result of her degree, she is now employed by a local Wal-Mart distribution center, which is helping her make a better living for her and her family.

Other college highlights include our offering a new certification in Manufacturing Technician Level I Training through our Workforce Development Division and graduating the largest number of degree-seeking dual enrollment students in the college’s history.

The new philosophy that I am proposing at Paul D. Camp Community College focuses on the college as a resource integral to the success of the community. We will work toward creating an improved overall experience for our students and being the go-to workforce training provider for area businesses and industry partners through this concept.

Please continue your support for the Foundation’s Annual Fund. This year, funds raised will support professional development for our faculty and our student emergency fund. Your contribution will enable us to make PDCCC the first—and best— choice for potential students and business partners. On behalf of the entire college community, thank you for your partnership.
